| It all started at the beginning of August. I bumped into one the volunteers one evening after working out. She had some interesting things to say and I was sort of interesting in learning more about Larouche, since I'd never heard of him. Giving them my phone number was mistake #1.
I started getting calls about a week later. It always happened when I was away from the phone or busy doing something, but they never left a message. I had already forgotten about giving my phone number to them. So finally one night, I saw the number on the id and decided to answer to see who it was. The guy I talked to then explained to me the goals of their campaign and we agreed on a lot of things. But I knew what was coming - they wanted me to volunteer time or hand over some cash. I was pretty strapped at the time but told him I might make a contribution thru their web site on August 15th. That was mistake #2. On August 13th, I saw the number on my caller id again. So I'm like, "Dude, I said the 15th!" But what really angered me was the fact that I got 3 calls from them within 2 hours on the 14th - a Saturday night! So they pretty much blew any chance of me donating money. I keep getting calls. And they never leave a message! So as long as I see 773-404-4862 on my caller id, I'll just keep logging it. |
