I get such a kick out this marketing effort to rebrand the war in Iraq as the solution for safety here in the U.S. First we were going over to kick Saddam out because he's such a bad evil man and he was about to get that shiny red button connected to the weapons of mass destruction. And we know how itchy his trigger finger is. So we'll go in there and get them before they get us.

Now the war is being touted as the beginning of spreading democracy with a side freedom throughout the Middle East. By doing this we'll stop the next generation of U.S. haters, making the homeland safer. I certainly can appreciate the logic behind this. But I would have appreciated it more had it been presented to me 2 years ago. I would have appreciated it more it we could have gotten the UN and other countries to go along for the ride. I would appreciate being able to trust those in power to do what's best and not what they think is right.
